Buying cloth you can't touch takes a little trust. Here are straight answers to what customers ask us most — including the things we can't promise.

Choosing your fabric

How much fabric do I need?

At our standard 44-inch width, a straight kurta typically takes 2.5 metres, a shirt around 1.6 metres, and a full suit set 3 metres or more once you allow for a dupatta and bottoms. Wider 58–60 inch cloth needs less. These are working guides, not guarantees — your pattern, size, print direction and matching all change the number. If you're unsure, message us on WhatsApp with the garment and size before you order.

Is the fabric see-through?

It depends on the weave. Mal cotton, muslin, lawn, organza and chanderi are light and semi-sheer — lovely for layering, usually lined for kurtas. Handloom cottons, cotton satin, brocade and velvet are opaque. If opacity matters for your project, ask us before ordering and we'll tell you honestly.

Will the colour look exactly like the photo?

Close, but not identical. Every screen renders colour differently, and handloom and yarn-dyed cloth genuinely varies between weaving lots. That variation is part of how the cloth is made, not a fault. For a critical colour match, ask us for a daylight photograph of the current lot before you buy.

What is the difference between yarn-dyed and printed?

In yarn-dyed cloth the threads are coloured before weaving, so the pattern is built into the structure and looks the same on both faces — checks, stripes and ikat work this way. In printed cloth the colour is applied to the surface of finished white fabric, so the reverse is paler. Yarn-dyed generally wears and fades more gracefully; printing allows far more intricate designs.

Can I use your fabric for quilting?

Many customers do, especially with our handloom cottons, Madras checks and block prints. Note that Indian handloom is typically 44 inches wide rather than the 42–44 inch quilting-cotton standard, and hand-woven cloth has a slightly more irregular hand than mill quilting cotton. Pre-wash before piecing.

Can I order a sample or swatch first?

Message us on WhatsApp at +91 75978 78011 and tell us which fabrics you're considering. For anything beyond a small cut, ordering the shortest available length is usually the most reliable way to judge a cloth in person.

Can I reorder the same fabric later?

Sometimes. Mill-made and printed goods usually restock. Handloom is woven in limited lots and a specific colourway may not return, or may return with slight variation. If you'll need more later, buy the full quantity in one go — or message us and we'll tell you what's still on the loom.

Care & wear

How should I wash it?

Cold hand wash separately for the first two or three washes, mild detergent, no bleach, dry in shade. Embellished cloth — sequin, zari, pearl, mirror, dabka — should be dry-cleaned only. Always test-wash a small cutting before you cut into the full length.

Does it shrink?

Natural fibres do. Expect roughly 2–5% on pure cotton and handloom. Pre-wash and dry the cloth before cutting, and add that allowance to your measurements.

Do you guarantee durability or colourfastness?

No, and we'd rather say so plainly. Colour fade, shrinkage of 2–5% and gradual wear on embellishment are normal characteristics of handcrafted natural textiles and depend heavily on how the cloth is washed and used. We don't treat these as defects. Read our fabric care and no-guarantee policy in full.

Ordering, shipping & returns

How is fabric sold — by the metre?

Yes. Running fabric is priced and cut per metre. Choose your length on the product page; some fabrics also offer fixed 2.5-metre and 3-metre cuts. Your cloth is cut as one continuous piece.

Do I need a discount code?

No. 10% comes off every order automatically at checkout.

What does shipping cost?

Free anywhere in India on prepaid orders, sent via Bluedart or Delhivery with full tracking. Cash on delivery is available for a ₹99 fee, which is not refundable. International orders go to over 200 countries via Shipglobal, fully tracked.

How long will it take?

We dispatch in 1–3 days and Indian deliveries typically arrive within 5–7 days. International transit varies by destination and customs.

Will I pay customs duty on an international order?

Possibly. Import duties and local taxes are set by your country and are the recipient's responsibility. They aren't included in the price you pay us. Check your own country's threshold for textile imports if you'd like to know in advance.

Can I return fabric?

Within 7 days, if it's unused, unwashed, uncut and in original condition. A ₹150 reverse shipping fee is deducted — waived entirely if the item reached you damaged or we sent the wrong thing. The ₹99 COD fee is not refundable. Full details in our returns policy.
