Art Matka Slub Texture Ikat Print Fabric
Magenta Base · Olive · Coral · Orange Ikat Motifs · Multiple Designs
M'Foks Art Matka Slub Texture Ikat Print Fabric is a premium man-made fabric engineered specifically to replicate the look, feel, and body of pure Matka Silk — without the price or the care demands that come with natural silk. The fabric is woven with intentional slub yarn variation, producing an irregular, textured surface that closely mimics the rustic character of authentic Matka weaving. To the eye and largely to the touch, it presents as Matka Silk — structured, slightly grainy, matte-to-soft-sheen — while being machine-washable, more colour-stable, and significantly more accessible in price.
The Ikat print is applied on a bold magenta / hot pink base. The motifs — in olive gold, coral orange, and warm peach — carry the characteristic feathered, bleed-edge appearance of traditional Ikat design, giving the fabric a handcrafted, artisanal visual quality. The magenta and earthy-tone contrast is vibrant, festival-appropriate, and photographs exceptionally well. Available in multiple Ikat designs and colourways.
Art Matka (This Fabric)

Pure Matka Silk

Both fabrics have similar visual appeal and garment-making suitability. Art Matka is the preferred choice for everyday and semi-formal use; pure Matka Silk for heirloom-quality or high-occasion garments.
🎨 What is Ikat Print?
Ikat is a dyeing technique where yarns are resist-dyed before weaving, producing designs with soft, feathered edges — the visual signature of true Ikat. On this fabric, the Ikat pattern is printed to replicate that traditional bleed effect: motif edges intentionally blur and fade rather than cutting sharp, giving the print a handwoven, artisanal quality distinct from regular flat-colour screen or digital prints.

ℹ Being a man-made fabric, Art Matka is machine washable — a key advantage over pure Matka Silk which requires dry cleaning. Wash inside-out to protect the Ikat print colours. Use cold water and a gentle cycle; avoid high heat in washing or drying as it may affect the slub texture structure. Iron on medium heat on the reverse side.
